چکیده

The advancement of efficient carbon capture technology is vital for the transition to a net-zero future. Critical developments in ultrasonic irradiation can be used enhance conventional CO2 absorption process. For example, sonophysical effects such as acoustic streaming, cavitation, fountain and atomization induced by propagation high-frequency waves liquid medium mixing create larger interfacial area gas–liquid mass transfer. In this study, performance continuous ultrasonic-assisted process using MDEA was investigated. design experiment (DOE) study effect gas flowrate, flowrate power on performance. Based findings, most significant parameter affecting outlet concentration, liquid-to-gas ratio (L/G) transfer coefficient (KGa), which confirmed that has impact intensification optimum condition achieve target numerically determined validated with experimental tests. results from verification runs were good agreement predicted values, average error less than 10%.

Monitoring of corrosion damage using high-frequency guided ultrasonic waves

Due to adverse environmental conditions corrosion can develop during the life cycle of industrial structures, e.g., offshore oil platforms, ships, and desalination plants. Both pitting corrosion and generalized corrosion leading to wall thickness loss can cause the degradation of the integrity and load bearing capacity of the structure. Structural health monitoring of corrosion damage in diffic...

Evaluation of pre-treatment efficiency of fats, oils and greases using low frequency ultrasonic waves to accelerate the process of anaerobic digestion

Background and Objective: Hydrolysis of fat, oil and grease by ultrasonic waves is a pre-treatment method before anaerobic digestion which can change their physical, chemical and biological properties. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the efficiency of ultrasonic waves to improve the hydrolysis process and its use as an auxiliary substrate to increase the efficiency of anaerobi...

Modeling and Simulation of CO2 Absorption Enhancement in Hollow-Fiber Membrane Contactors using CNT–Water-Based Nanofluids

Absorption of CO2 from a gas mixture containing CO2 and nitrogen by water-based CNT nanofluids in gas–liquid hollow fiber membrane contactor was modeled and solved using COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4. The model assumed partial wetting of the membrane, along with diffusion in the axial and radial directions. In addition, Brownian motion and grazing effects were both considered in the model. The main c...

Characterisation of hidden defects using the near-field ultrasonic enhancement of Lamb waves.

Defects that propagate from the inside of a structure can be difficult to detect by traditional non-destructive inspection methods. A non-contact inspection method is presented here that uses the near-field interactions of ultrasonic Lamb waves to detect defects propagating into a 1.5 mm thick aluminium sheet from the opposite side to that which is inspected. Near-field interactions of the S0 L...

Frequency dependence of ultrasonic absorption in mammalian testis.

The earlier report that the frequency dependence of ultrasonic absorption of mammalian testis memicked a single relaxation process is explained as an effect of ultrasonic beam width upon the transient thermoelectric technique. More detailed measurements show that the frequency dependence of the ultrasonic absorption in testis is much the same as the attenuation in other soft tissues, viz., a pr...
